Crepe Paper Streamers

Streamers—they're not just for kiddie parties anymore. Typically sold two to a pack, they're your secret weapon for inexpensive party decor. Make the flower embellishment (see next slide), or create any of these easy crafts.

Drink stirrers To turn streamers and wooden skewers into fun drink stirrers, snip one side of a 2" length of streamer into a fringe. Roll the non-fringe side tightly around one end of the skewer to make a tassel. Secure with a dot of craft glue.

Chandelier Construct a cheerful "chandelier" by tying streamers to a large embroidery hoop and letting them hang down (cut the ends so they're even or leave the lengths intentionally random). Suspend it over your table or in an entryway.

Bow accents Simply knot streamers and cut the ends short to turn them into perky bows. Tie them around flatware, drinking straws, votive candles—you name it!

Crepe Paper Flower

Supplies Cost: $2

Materials

· Crepe paper streamers in 2 contrasting colors (we used red and green)

· Small piece of card stock

· Scissors

· Clear tape

· Craft glue

Directions

1 From one color streamer, cut out eight 2" x 1½" petal shapes and four 1½" x 1" petal shapes.

2 Cut out a 1½" circle of plain card stock; cut a slit to the center of the circle. Form it into a cone and secure with tape.

3 Glue 4 large petals to the inside of the cone. Then glue 4 large petals to the outside of the cone, staggering them so the tips are between the inside petals.

4 Glue the 4 smaller petals to the inside, staggering them between the larger outside petals.

5 Cut a contrasting streamer into a 1" x 2½" strip. Fold it in half lengthwise and cut the edges into a fringe.

6 Roll up the fringed strip and glue it into the center of the flower.
