All the usual country icons—grain sacks, hand-painted signs, wicker furniture, cast-iron tubs—put in an appearance chez Motschenbacher. But they're tempered with elegant restraint. "I got close to out of control with those grain sacks!" Kelley admits. "As a designer, it's tempting to do things you love to excess."

Sitting Area
In the master bedroom, a pair of Lee Industries armchairs and a repurposed coffee-bean bucket cozy up to the fireplace. The couple found the cast-iron owl andirons at a flea market.

An old hand-painted metal sign hangs above the master bathroom's salvaged cast-iron tub. The lab-inspired light is by Schoolhouse Electric, and the sinks are by Porcher.
