White Dining Rooms - Part 2

Delicate Touches

An Italian military bed frame, topped with reclaimed wood, serves as the breakfast room table. Gustavian chairs from the early 1800s boast custom miniskirts; the antiqued brass fixtures are by Vaughan. The paint color here is Huntington White by Darryl Carter Colors by Benjamin Moore.

Bright Idea: Turning a fabric's "wrong" side faceup, as designer Darryl Carter did here, can reveal a bold pattern's subtle pattern.

Antiques Display

A white background is a great backdrop for displaying collectibles and antiques. This dining room's built-in cupboards show off some of the owner's transferware collection.

Blue and White

Designer Sarah Richardson, from HGTV's Sarah's House, used a wide-stripe fabric from Schumacher, aptly named Summerside, on the back of the armchairs in the lovely white dining room of her summer cottage. Richardson also piled on pillows in fanciful patterns, including a blue paisley.

Mix and Match Vintage

Neutral hues unite the variety of vintage chairs surrounding this dining table. The owners found the pendant lamp at a Paris street market, and the china cabinet at a California antiques store. By painting the dining table white, they found that the curves of its legs really stood out.
